M-ERA.NET proceeds to its next phase

M-ERA.NET is continuing as a very successful European network of public funding organisations in materials research and innovation.

Starting on 1 March 2021 with 50 partners from 36 countries and regions in Europe and abroad, thisERA-NET for research and innovation on materials and battery technologies, supporting the European Green deal will implement a series of joint calls to fund excellent, innovative, transnational RTD cooperation as its core activity to support the circular economy and Sustainable Development Goals. M-ERA.NET will thus contribute to the green transition and digital transformation of industry in Europe and worldwide. The transnational projects funded by M-ERA.NET are expected to contribute to clean energy-related applications and battery technologies by improving the efficiency of production processes, reducing the usage of materials and energy resources and by improving materials properties such as durability. New approaches to health applications with the focus on advanced materials and coatings will also be addressed.

Additional joint activities will be implemented to strengthen the European materials research community in tackling the challenges of the 21th century through intensifying cooperation with other European initiatives and supporting engagement with partners outside of the European Union.

M-ERA.NET started in 2012 under the 7th EU Framework Programme, continued in its second phase from 2016 to 2022 under the Horizon 2020 Research and Innovation Programme, and is now entering its third phase from March 2021 to February 2026, receiving funding from the Horizon 2020 ERA-NET COFUND scheme under grant agreement No. 958174. M-ERA.NET is coordinated by the Austrian Research Promotion Agency (FFG).
