Major eligibility criteria (e.g. types of organisations, thematic restriction, cost types and caps)

1.
Malta-based applicants that are Eligible Undertakings, with an Operating Base in Malta, planning to carry out Fundamental Research, Industrial Research and/or Experimental Development projects and must either be:
a.
A partnership constituted under the Companies Act, being a partnership en nom collectif, en commandite or a limited liability company; or
b.
Be duly registered as a co-operative society under the Co-Operative Societies Act, or
c.
Professional body; or
d.
NGOs; or
e.
Non-profit making entities (including Foundations).
2.
Any Public Entity or Public Research or Knowledge-Dissemination Organisation registered in Malta, that do not carry out an economic activity within the meaning of Article 107 TFEU, will be eligible for funding subject to the terms and conditions laid out in the latest version of the National Rules for Participation (Non-State Aid).
Eligible costs and rates of funding depend on the type of the Malta-based entities and the funding route chosen.
Eligible costs include the following: personnel; instruments, specialised equipment, and research consumables; IP and knowledge transfer activities; travel and subsistence; subcontracted activities; overheads and other operating expenses.

Submission of the proposal at national/regional level (schedule, cut-off dates, deadlines, etc.)

The national application form together with the required annexes can be downloaded from the Xjenza Malta website and must be sent to t by the national deadline specified in the detailed National Rules.

Submission of financial and scientific reports at the national/regional level

An Interim Technical Report and Financial Report are to be presented to Xjenza Malta at the mid-point of the project. At the end of the project, an End of Project Technical Report and End of Project Audited Financial Report need to be submitted.
