Basic research only (low Technology Readiness Level).  Academic and Research Institutions: 100% of eligible expenditure

Funding rates (approx.)

Max. 200.000 EUR/ project. Max. duration: 3 years.

Eligible cost items include:

·         Staff

·         Equipment (max. 50.000 EUR/project)

·         Consumables

·         Travel costs

·         Subcontracting

·         Communication and dissemination costs

Overhead is not an eligible cost. Rules and regulations of FNRS apply.

Major eligibility restrictions
(e.g. types of organisations, thematic restricition)

Eligibility criteria: basic research carried out in a research institution from the French-speaking Community  of Belgium.  The FNRS will not fund industrial partners. The applicant must be affiliated to a research institution from the French-speaking Community of Belgium. The applicant should also:

  • be a permanent researcher of FNRS (Chercheur qualifié, Maître de recherches or Directeur de recherches),
  • or hold a tenure track position (or an assimilated position including pending tenure track) within a research institution from the Fédération Wallonie-Bruxelles,
  • or be a permanent research staff member of a federal scientific institution including the Ecole Royale Militaire in which case he can act as a co-promotor only.

The applicant should not have reached retirement at the starting date of the project. If the applicant reaches the age of retirement in the course of the project, he should precisely describe in the proposal how the handover will be managed.

A single applicant may only participate once as a Coordinator in a consortium applying to this call.

FNRS will not fund projects submitted under topic 5 „Interfaces between materials and biological hosts for health applications“ of the present call.
