FR: France  ANR - Agence Nationale de la Recherche

The French National Research Agency (ANR) was established by the French government in 2005. The main mission of ANR is to fund the best fundamental research, but also targeted and applied research, in particular through partnerships between companies and public sector laboratories. ANR supports French research excellence and it is the ANR mission to strengthen international cooperation by contributing in particular to the funding of international consortia in partnership with other funding agencies in Europe and beyond.
The ANR 2020 Work Programme, adopted in July 2019 by its Governing Board, comes under the framework set by the “France Europe 2020” Strategic Agenda presented by the Minister for Higher Education and Research on 21 May 2013. ANR funds are available in all scientific fields, for both fundamental and industrial research. This work programme is structured around 4 cross-cutting components:

  1. Research and innovation via the national Generic Call,
  2. Specific actions
  3. Building the European Research Area (ERA) and France's international attractiveness
  4. Economic impact of research and competitiveness

 

Since 2010, ANR has also been the principal operator of the Investments for the Future Programme in the field of higher education and research. As such, it ensures the selection, funding and monitoring of projects relating to centres of excellence, health, biotechnologies, as well as technology transfer and creation of value from research. Since its inception in 2005, the ANR funded more than 19000 projects, and co-funded more than 2500 international projects.

 

FR: France  RNAQ - Région Nouvelle-Aquitaine

The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region is a Regional public authority (NUTS 2). Its areas of competence are economic development and employment, research and innovation, professional training, high school management, transport, tourism, the environment, culture and sport.
Concerning the innovation field, the Region encourages the creation of high-tech, high value-added businesses. It gives companies or creators of innovative businesses easy access to assistance via a full range of financing tools. Concerning R&D, the Region supports the financing of collaborative programs representing innovation on all ways (technological or not).
The Nouvelle-Aquitaine Region supports innovation and R&D on its territory through its Economic Regional Development Scheme and its Innovation and smart specialization Regional Strategy. The development of the materials (especially ceramic technologies and their applications) is encouraged as a part of his Smart Specialization Strategy.
