Partner 36: (SE: Sweden) VINNOVA … Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems

VINNOVA (Swedish Governmental Agency for Innovation Systems) was founded in 2001 and is an agency under the Ministry of Enterprise, Energy and Communications. The main task is to promote sustainable growth in Sweden through investments in needs-driven research as well as the development of effective innovation systems. VINNOVA operates a wide range of funding schemes and programmes where an important feature is the strengthening of research and development cooperation between universities, research institutes, companies and other organisations in the Swedish innovation system.

VINNOVA is the national contact agency for the EU Framework Programme for R&D and also has an assignment from the Government to stimulate Swedish participation in European and international R&D collaborations.

The annual budget is around € 220 million and the staff consists of approximately 200 persons. The project portfolio contains around 1 650 on-going funded projects.
